ES Magazine - Tony Chambers

The Zanzibar is a travel robe by Robe de Voyage, a young London-based company that works with a collective of weavers in Bihar, India. Handcrafted from lightweight cotton, it is equally suited to wear at home as on overseas adventures. Its artful white squiggles and rich blue hue are based on founder Jessica Linklater’s impressions of Zanzibar’s shimmering waters, and reminiscent of waves in a David Hockney painting. It comes as no surprise, then, that the robe is available at the Tate Britain gift shop during its Hockney retrospective. (robedevoyage.comtate.org.uk)
